computer updates

This is a HEADS UP>>>> When I turned on my computer two days ago it said you have updates, I told it ok and now I cannot access the internet unless I use some sort of backdoor, I cannot connect to the links my friends from this sight send me either so please watch what you ok when it comes to updates it really set me back, I normally have earthlink, I lost that too. Be careful please.

Hi Bonnie K.
Have you tried the RESTORE function in Windows. You can restore your computer settings to a previous date and you won’t lose any data or files. I know it has saved me many times from MicroSoft Automatic updates. Daddy Gates does not always know best.

Yes my husband did, infact he tried several different dates and it wouldn't work, internet explorer 9 was the problem, Thanks for the info. I like the fact that people will help when you need it, your great thanks again. Hugs

I was having problems viewing my AVI files on windows media player for about the last 4 days. Today I had a remote assistance with a Dell tech. He found several problems. The problem was not recent windows updates as I had thought. I have AVG PC Tune Up on my computer. Evidently that program will erase some important registry files. I will keep the program but went through what it can and cannot clear.
I agree with Bonnie too I am very careful about the updates. I will google to see what they mean.

All the responses were great thanks to you too. My husband and son build computers too and my son is in college learning programming and what not he is at the top of his class so he better know how to fix it, they are conversing about it as we speak so lots of luck on that one. Oh thanks so much for the offer I really appreciate it but my husband is really good at computers too and my son even better at it he is a programmer and all around computer nerd. Thanks again but if they can't I hope the offer still stands.

I would recommend you don't exchange contact information in the discussions as Google and other search engines can and do read these discussion posts. I have seen postings from DC on the Google results page when I was searching for some obscure information. SO if you don't want your contact information floating out there in cyberspace where anyone and his brother can get a hold of it, I would recommend using the DC email system. Become friends, if you are not yet friends and then you can exchange contact info more safely.

Thanks but I think we have it under control or at least part of it, my husband is working on the rest of it now, with my son.. I am using his computer since I still cannot get on the site to see your responses with mine. Thanks again for the offer. Bonnie
