I just purchased that A1c home tester unit, and was curious about something. Has any of you D/Cers out there ever tried it? Is it as accurate as they claim it to be? Or should I just return it, and wait for my next set of lab work. I need a little input here D/Cers. Anyone out there? Thanx.

Consider everything with at least a slight margin of error-even blood tests. I think that regular blood tests are a bit more accurate (from what I hear at the lab) then the A1c machine.

You know something, Carol, your absolutely right. I was just really curious on what that # was. But I have to agree w/u. The lab work that the Dr asks for are a lot more accurate. But like I said, I was curious, and was @ Walmart, so I bought it. To tell you the truth, lab work done @ my Drs office is cheaper than that A1c test was. So, I guess this is what you call, "live & learn"

Well Alan, not what I was hoping. It did go up slightly. From a 7.5 to an 8.0. I'm bummed!! I'm a vegan who does not feed herself illegal foods. You know what I mean. Carbs, sugars, fruit, anything w/"natural sugars" flours. NOTHING!! (even fake sugars!!) And it goes up!! I'm really bummed. I've gone as far as emailing my dr. to schedule lab work that includes the infamous HGA1c test. Oh well, he hasn't emailed me back yet, but as soon as he gives me the go ahead, I'm getting those labs done. A.S.A.P.!!!!

I have used the one from Bayer on sale and it worked great numbers were the same as the test was from the lab.

Mine is also from Bayer. I used the $5.00 coupon that was on the package. Thx alanbossman. As soon as I log off from this here site, I'm gonna go test. I'll let you know if it was for me, with me, or against me. The directions looked easy enough to follow. So as of now, I'm signing off. I'm dying to know what my A1c is. So here goes nothing. As you can tell, I'm kinda nervous. Don't know why, but I am.

Anna Lease, Personally for myself I will not spend that kind of money for it. Personally I am on a very limited income. I did check them out. I am anxious to hear my new A1C from my blood draw yesterday but can wait. If your daily bg's are improving so will your A1C.
Good luck deciding.
