I found this great quiz about diabetes and there were a couple in there that I had no idea about.
Have fun!

Scored 83%. Can't beleive I tanked the very first question. How pathetic is that? Okay, back to the books. Lol

I got a 100 on the quiz. But, I've taken quite a few quizzes and learned a lot from them. Reading and research is our best way to learn how to control this condition. I hope everyone who gets diagnosed, or has a loved one with diabetes does some reading on it.

BandonBob 2011-11-20 09:41:19 -0600 Report

I got 100% but I have worked hard for the 22 years since being diagnosed. It is a great test that everyone should try. Thanks Gabby

Got a 92%, read one question a bit too fast. And I too answered that it's uncurable although I am not sure I believe that.

Caroltoo 2011-11-19 20:10:09 -0600 Report

Got 100%, but only because I know the AMA says diabetes is incurable and I just don't agree.

There is another option 2 lines above the quiz which is more of a lifestyle quiz and analysis of where we are. It is very interesting and prints out a 5 page report on their analysis of our responses. Mine was right on.

Thank you Gabby. I had done this report a while back for my doctor, but it was when I was less educated. It was interesting to see the difference in the report now that I've gotten my SLevels under controll and have more controll of my diet, etc.

Thank you for helping out.

I scored a 10% on this Gabby. I do think it is something everyone should take. There are some questions in there that people may think they know but acctually don't. After doing this for 30 plus years I even had to stop and think about one or two questions before answering them.

AnnieKennedy 2011-09-25 15:25:28 -0500 Report

Got a 100! But I have been working on this for quite a while now and learning whatever I can. I also have had some great doctors.

This is new to me. I havent been to my dietrician. My doctor is setting that up for me. Seems I do eat alot of carbs which I do know turn into sugar. Just hoping I do what is best for me and get them under control. thanks and any info will be helpful. ; )

jayabee52 2011-09-24 00:44:58 -0500 Report

Just take baby steps to learn what you need to learn. I expect you will find the way to control your BGs.

What I do is reduce my carbs to as little as I can get away with and eat high protein meals. That is the way I have found that works for me to control my BG numbers without diabetes meds.

But it took me about 16 years after my Dx to figure it out. (I am a slow learner. LoL!)

classof78 2011-09-25 17:01:44 -0500 Report

That's pretty much what I did. My A1c is great, but my cholesterol shot up to the point where my dr. wanted to put me on meds for that. I started working on the cholesterol, and lowered it a little, but raised the A1c. It's still good, but not as good as it was. Still trying to find that fine line between the 2.

only missed one, but I thought it was a trick question… Ha ha
I'm amazed how much I knew and how dumb i really am when it comes to living with diabetes. I wish I could be better about doing what I need to instead of just knowing the answers.

That's a great quiz but I still got 2 wrong. ahhh well another learning experience. Thx Gabby

GabbyPA 2011-09-21 13:01:39 -0500 Report

At the end of the quiz, it says the 69% of the people taking the quiz get less than 8 right. You guys are showing that you know your stuff. Good job!

MEGriff1950 2011-09-21 09:54:49 -0500 Report

On that test I missed the one about early signs and I have never never heard that muscle pain is an early sign. My muscles were always complaining because of the work that I was doing.

flipmom 2011-09-21 09:48:31 -0500 Report

some i randomly answered.. and i dont really know insipidus sumthing.. still did 11 out of 12! wooot!

redcamel 2011-09-21 00:22:35 -0500 Report

9 of 12 but I dont agree with some of the questions like pre diabetic. I thunk that is the Govts way of saying they dont know why people are getting D and they have to give some answer. You either have it or not no pre or in between. I can show you people that should have it overweight etc and dont have D and people that have it in their family history and dont have D so answer those questions before you say you have pre D

prowsepap 2011-09-20 21:21:41 -0500 Report

I got 11 out of 12. I never heard of diabetes insipidus either but guessed at it and got it right :)

jayabee52 2011-09-20 18:39:40 -0500 Report

Here's the link which should take you right to the quiz:

I took it too. I had to guess on some of them but hanging around DC all that I do gave me enough info that I scored 12 of 12 right. I know i know! Smartie pants! LoL!

GabbyPA 2011-09-21 12:59:41 -0500 Report

You are such a shmattie....(does that translate? LOL)
Do you know about diabetes insipidus? I had never heard of that. I know you have issues with your kidneys, and it is related to that.

jayabee52 2011-09-21 14:32:46 -0500 Report

There was a fella on DC a while who had DI and he started a discussion asking if anyone else on DC had it. ( ) At one time I saw my file on the Doc's desk and he had me down as having DI, but nothing was ever said about it.

My kidney problem is that the nephron filters are going Kaput and I have a buildup of the nasty poisons in my bloodstream. I believe it was caused by the Metformin which weakened my kidneys.

DI's mechanism works differently than chronic kidney disease. Mr Franklin explains it better than I could. if you are interested, click on the link above and read that particular discussion.

GabbyPA 2011-09-20 18:12:48 -0500 Report

You have to click on the link "Take the diabetes quiz". Sorry, I thought the link I gave would take you right there. Have fun anyway.

I got 9 out of 12...I have never heard of diabetes insipidus. But I bet some of you out there have. I also don't agree that prediabetes is reversible. I think it is manageable, but not reversible.
