So I was going to the gym 4-5 times a week. Doing an hr of cardio. Hit a wall in weight loss but just kept going. Had to stop going to visit my daughter.(a new granddaughter!)
The thing is that I started losing weight again and my numbers got better! Weird. Any thoughts on this? Oh yes, type 2. Atkins type diet

From what one of my Dr's told me, abdominal fat in your visceral area tends to build up insulin resistance. When you lose that visceral fat the insulin resistance diminishes, and your body uses the insulin your pancreas puts out more efficiently, therefore your BG numbers will go down.

At least that was the way it was expleined to me.

What are you using beside exercise and your meal plan to manage your BG Numbers?

Just diet and exercise. Very careful to keep my carbs low and they all come from greens nuts and berries. Anything white just shoots my #s up there.

D'ya mean white like cauliflower? LoL!

I too control my BG levels with my low carb high protein eating plan. I started the experement in Feb 2011 and have continued it to this day. May A1c was 5.5 I have lost about 50 lbs since Feb. The weight loss was welcome but was secondary to my managing my Blood numbers.

Beata, when we start exercising we gain muscle mass. Muscle weighs more then fat. When dieting and exercising we can sometimes gain a few pounds even. Some people go by their clothes, are they getting looser even if you aren't losing? Some people use measuring tape to track the differences. Once when I was walking miles and loosing there was a period of 2 months were not a pound was shed but I had to get smaller clothing. Remember exercise is not always about the pounds it is strenghtening your cardio vascular system too. My dr said that our lower legs and feet need exercise to help keep the blood flowing to them. Our hearts do not pump to our lower extremities.
I learned in diabetic education class that it is very important to eat on schedule otherwise our bodies make glucose. I hope some of this helps.
