This morning I testing prior to breakfast and had a reading of 96 (personal best for me). After breakfast, almost 2 hours later, I started feeling tired, shaky, and a little confused. I tested and my reading was 218. I thought that was quite a jump.
I am not on insulin, I take 2 Janumet 50/500mg after dinner. What do I do for high blood sugar? Does anyone know?

Thanks so much.

When I eat a high fiber breakfast like oatmeal with fruit my sugars usually go very high. Today when I ate my oatmeal I did eat a very small piece of ham with it. Many here have suggested that a little protein helps to level out the blood sugar when eating items like that. It worked for me today. I keep a notebook handy to write down my sugars along with everything I eat and when. This helps me to narrow down foods that I need to cut back on. Like Gabby said drinking a lot of water does help and walking.

Drink a lot of water or take a little walk. Those things should help. Do you know what you ate to send it that high?
Also, when I get a number that just seems out of what I was expecting, I test again, to make sure my hands were clean and that there was not and external reason for the reading.
