Good morning all, I am scheduled for an Artherectomy 9/19. Can anyone tell me their experience with this procedure. I had a angioplasty 2/11 but the poor circulation in my foot is bothering me again. I'm praying this will help, I can only walk a short distance before the pain kicks in.

Good morning, well I had the procedure done yesterday and it wasn't much different from the angioplasy. I was awake during the procedure, dye was injected then a device was used to remove the plaque. I heard one of the medical personnel say "did you see how much came out"? So it has to be a good thing. The sole of my foot is a little painful but that happened when I had the angioplasty. I was told that it was the blood getting to my foot. The color is certainly better I'll be home the rest of the week. I still have to have my right leg done. The real test is yet to come, when I actually try walking a little distance. Again thanks for all of the support.

Glad it went good. Fingers crossed and prayers for great results. My bad veins sure screwed up my circulation and the surgery to ablate them helped give me more strength than I could imagine. Hope and pray you have as good or better results from your procedure. Bad circulation from whatever problem can cause so many problems.

Thanks, to all of you that took time out of your day, to send your prayers and encouragement. This is such a wonderful site not just because of the info posted about diabetes but because of the love and caring that comes thru about whatever issue someone may be going thru. May God bless each of you. YOU PRAY FOR ME AND I'LL PRAY FOR YOU AND WATCH GOD CHANGE THINGS.!!!

Hi swanslake, i can only tell you of my experience as a homecare nurse that ask your doc if you can have a homecare RN inspect your incisionline due to diabetes. That way, anything out of the ordinary can be addressed imimediatly to your doc. Most people do very well and get a good cleaning out. Your pain should be much better controlled if not eliminated. Love and prayers to you. Most insurances will pay for this.
