Today I saw that both Shopko and Walmart have flu shots available for the new season. Finally someone has seen the need for us to get them before the season begins. I got mine today and did not cry but wasn't offered a sticker for being good either.

Were you sick after getting your flu shot this year? I heard one person got sick this year who never gets sick after their shot. I didn't know whether it was just happenstance or whether many people are getting sick this year.

I did not get sick but had a few minor aches. I do not know if the shot caused that or the rain. If someone has been exposed to the flu when the get the shot they will get the flu. It takes the shot 2 weeks to become effective.

We get ours thru my old employer, Welch Allyn, free of charge! My own doctor charges us $26/ erson! What a ripoff! For us seniors or disabled, it should be FREE! We worked all these years, still we pat out of pocket! Grandpa Bill

I once asked our health dept why they charge disabled but not the retired. I was told that retired people are on pensions. Yes many are on pensions from who they worked for and Social Security plus I know many that work the system and work part time so they can afford cruises, motorhomes, trips overseas. Those poor old folk. I tried to tell the health department that those of us living on SSD are paid a lot less, should have talked to the wall.

Yes, flu shots are out and my annual fight with my doctor begins! I don't want to take my flu shot, because I then lose 1 and 1/2 days from work after I get it. I get it in the morning, and by afternoon am so sick that I must go home from work and am out the whole next day as well. This has happened every year for the past 5 years. No one can tell me why this happens, or what to do to prevent it.
But, the doctor always wins, so, like a little sheeple, I get my flu shot at work every year (my company gives then for free, so at least it doesn't cost me to get very sick, and I have paid sick leave), get very sick, go home, and 2 days later continue on with work.
Never have gotten the flu, but also, has anyone noticed that whatever strain of flu they shoot you up for is NOT the strain that goes around later?? Go figure!

Hi Sonya, Have you asked your employer to arrange for the shots on a late friday afternoon so that the side affect from them will be gone by Monday? Also if you have insurance most companies will pay for you to get them. Our county health department offers them for $10. to non seniors who are at risk for complications from the flu like us diabetics. You might check to see if there is a similar offering in your area and arrange to get immunized on a Friday when you can arrange to get off of work a bit early. I don't know what your schedule is so just guessing here.

Since there are so many of us, he does it on a Wednesday morning! I have to go out to the Base otherwise to get it, or pay for it myself anywhere else, I have insurance thru the military not my employer!!
And my employer does not consider me a person at risk-he considers me a non-person!!
