I have been having a pity party being alone on Christmas. I'm going to get back into relaxing.

Goddess have you ever thought about getting a pet? They offer so much enjoyment and love. They crave attention and love and offer great companionship. Just a thought. Hope it might help you from being so alone. I am alone during the day and my pets are great company for me.

I know its hard when you live alone Goddess ,I have nice hot bubble baths with candles lit in the bathroom, lights out,sip on a glass of wine.It does wonders for me,other times I get on the computer or turn on my music.
When you live alone you have to find ways to entertain yourself or you're gonna be miserable,in the summertime I walk down to the lake and enjoy the water or just sit on my balcony and watch the lake it's beautiful in summer.

I relax by surfing the net, answering my email, and of course contributing to this site. Also a good warm foot soaking or bath recharges the old batteries. I really enjoy my pets and find I have a lot more playing to do than the clock allows. I never go out of the house after a good romp with my dogs feeling stressed. Life is good.

Goddess 2008-12-16 09:59:23 -0600 Report

we do alot of the same things except the dogs. i can't have any in my apt.

I can't imagine life without my dogs and cats. They are family. It isn't any wonder that my wife says she wants to come back as one of my pets.

I agree. Pets can be very relaxing and enjoying. Why do you think they take dogs to nursing homes and children's hospitals??

I believe I will relax tonight with some hot cocoa for a change.

Believe it or not my most relaxing
thing to do is fold and hang up freshly
laundered clothes. When I am doing this
it means that I had a good day and got my
laundry done. I usually have a hot cup of coffee or tea along side and I am just happy for having completed something
important to my housekeeping and I feel
some self worth. I am on Cymbalta for my depression and Fibromyalgia and arthritis pain. I do not have any dirty
laundry in my house now except the clothes on my husband's back and my own. I really feel accomplished and I was also able to make a good pot of soup and some cornbread from scratch for our dinner. I may not be able to brush my teeth unitl noon tomorrow, but today was a good, and for me, a relaxing day!

I am like you, I like to clean and do laundry when I can. My husband got me a new washer and dryer for Christmas(already got it) and I love it. It is one of those front loaders that holds 15 pairs of jeans in one load. I love to clean my kitchen. I got a really good and high and rolling chair that I can get around cleaning. I figured out how to sweep and mop the floor sitting in it. So now I can really accomplish things. My next challenge is to see if I can vacuum from my chair. I think that would be too much to ask. But maybe?????

Goddess 2008-12-10 08:39:12 -0600 Report

I drank 3 glasses of hot tea and ended up falling asleep in my chair and sleeping through the night in it.

Heavy medication, for all my stress and anxiety, there is nothing currently working for me. When I am manic, I love to work and it takes my mind off of my issues. Really, I’m not kidding. I wish I were fit and healthy, I could exercise, but currently I am not there yet.
I love to work on the computer, and listen to books on tape. I multi task by doing both at the same time, listen to a book on a CD, and work on the computer. When I say work on my computer, this could be everything from my working on my Masters, shopping on line, blogging to friends and introducing new discussions to our community. I will also relax with my pets. They are the best stress relievers.

I don't really have any problem relaxing. I read, talk with neighbord, play with my puppy, look out the window, write in my gratitude journal, take a nap, write a letter, think of some subject I want to research on the Web, crochette, take a shower and lather my body with moisturizer, set my hair, etc, so you can see I pretty much stay relaxed.
By the way, Misery, how the heck are you?
Love, aunt pat

I have found that getting on my karaoke machine and singing relaxes me so much. It puts me in a good mood and i like that.

My Husband put in a Huge Picture window
to the Floor in our Bedroom so that I can take a hour or so watching the
Birds on the large homemade Bird feeders,
Birds of every kind and their Babies.
We have a Bird santuary and haven for Birds and other animals, which is
relaxing to me, I also meditate at the same time.

That sounds wonderful. We feed the brids (and the squirrels and the racoons...LOL) It is funny, we have seen more wild life since we moved into the "city" than we saw when we lived in the forest. That is a very relaxing thing to do though, I love it too.

I play online games and I love to read, especiially on a rainy day with a nice candle burning. It used to be a nice long hot bubble bath but now I cannot get in and out of the tub without alot of help so now it is why bother. It is not relaxing anymore.

DRB 2008-10-26 09:27:02 -0500 Report

You need one of those tubs that the side opens up and lets you walk in & out the side. I'm sure there expensive as sin, but would make it a lot easier for you.

DRB 2008-10-26 02:25:55 -0500 Report

Definetly the internet, walking, & racing on the Speed chanel.
