I have been taking this med for a year now. I'm not on a very hi dose, 20mg. I have had no side effect and I feel like my depression has lessened a bit.

I totally know the feeling. Alot of the time my nerves are so shot that I get to the point were I'm trying to control myself from crying for about 3 or 4 days because I believe that if I start crying I'm never gonna stop. It's a horrible feeling to have. Something will eventually set me off and the waterworks start. Sometimes I don't even know why I'm crying. But it only lasts for a few minutes and then I feel SO much better. I'm thankful though that now it only happens about once every 4 months or so thanks to the citalopram. I still have aways to go as far as my depression is concerned but I'm pushing through everyday.

Thank you guys for your input. It really helps when others that go through the same thing can give you their experiences and views on it.

I have been on this medicine for 2 yrs, and have not had any problems, though i can tell you, when you go off for awhile(like a week or 2) you can tell the difference. It will help you a lot with anger, and mood swings. Good luck!!!!!

I also use Citalopram in 20mg tablets, and I have been on it since my diagnosis back in May. I have had no side effects other than slight tiredness which did not last more than a week or so. Comparing how I felt before taking this med, I can honestly say that it helps. Remember that keeping our minds strong and occupied with other things also helps keep our emotions stable, and works in tandem with the medications.

Good luck with Citalopram, I hope that it will work for you too.
