It's another one of those things that hasn't been shown to do anything statistically significant during clinical studies, and there have been a lot of them. However, unlike cinnamon, chromium can actually cause damage to your DNA if you are not careful with it. Probably not with the amount found in some general supplements but if you are making your own doses up then it becomes more of an issue. There is also no real evidence that supplements are actually absorbed by the body so if you want to get more chromium it's far better to get them from foods like meat, seafood, whole grains, sweet potato and a whole host of other fruits and vegetables.

Some do but there is no real evidence that the vitamins and minerals in pill form are absorbed by the body.
Why would vitamins not be absorbed by the body if it is food that is our general delivery system? I know there are some that require other components that some have to piggy back on, but not all of them.

That is what I am asking...if it is an oral thing, that is taken through the digestive system, why is it not the same as eating a food? I understand the "pure" issue of it and things often need companions, but I just don't understand why it wouldn't work.

I like your idea. I think the reason we are so deficient in them as a general public is because our eating habits are so caught up in refined foods. When our moms told us to eat our veggies, it was a lot more true than we ever thought. Have you seen a list of chromium rich foods?
I have been told that chromium picolinate is the better delivery system to help with weight loss as well. The article disputes the dosage. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of dose actually shows results?
i take vitamin pills that have an amount of 100% daily value on them120 mcg thats the amount on the bottle. these are walmart brand i buy there compared to one a day womans vitamins. this is way to get what you need i will try to find out more ways that you can get chromium
