Hi everyone. I'm Zolea.
Back in 1995 I was told I'm hypothyroid and would most likely be on medication for it the rest of my life. So far that has been true. My dosage has gone up and down over the years, and my weight steadily went up.
Then in 2003 I blew out 3 disks in my lumbar and am still battling for my benefits.
2007 high blood pressure was added to the list. 2008 high cholesterol. 2010 type 2 diabetes.
If I were a horse, I'd'a been shot years ago. Anyway…I have gotten no help from any of the doctors who diagnosed me other than to have pills thrown at me. My big problem is diet. I do not sit around eating junk food all day. I eat chicken and fish (mostly salmon), added more veggies. I cannot exercise because of the back…that's when my weight really started to go up.
So, what can I do?

Hi. Welcome to DC. I also have a bad back. I had a spinal fusion and had bone taken from my hip and placed in my lower spine numbers 4 and 5. Over the years my hardware (big bar in back) has slipped over to my right so I understand pain. But what we can do is walk. A small walk around the neighborhood is even benifical. It does not have to be strenious exersice just enough to get your heart pumping. I'm lucky because I go to a pain management clinic and I am currently under treatment with them. I have been for 9 years. This helps a lot with my pain! It at least ables me to function more comfortably. Perhaps you might consider pain management treatment for yourself? This might really help you! As for the exercise there are lots of different things you can do. Start off small with walks then build up your distance as you become stronger. Walking is a wonerful form of exercise! Give it a try and you will be suprised on how good you feel and perhaps you will loose the weight your bothered by? I wish you the very best good luck and God bless!
