Somebody help me please.I'm a diabetic (type2) for 7 years now. Is there such a thing as being a boarder line diabetic ? I have a few friends that tell me that thier doctor told them they were boarder line diabetics. I believe I read an artical somewhere that said that there is no such thing as a boarder line diabetic, eigther you are or your not a diabetic. I argue this every time I see them. I just want to make sure I'm right. I believe that there is no such thing.

There is such a thing as boarderline mine son has been boarderline for 7 years. He does not have to take any medications, but has to watch what he eats. So yes there is such a thing as boarderline.

i believe u are or u are not my doctor told me one time that if i watch what i eat and do my exercise i could get my a1c down low enough that i would not be noted as a diabetic but every time i get that checked it is not low enough

Thank You, have you been a diabetic long? It sounds to me that your tuffest job is to get your a1c down & keep it there. Easier said then done, right. Good Luck to you.

there is a thing called pre diabetes were your glucose is above 99 another words its between 100 120 for a fasting blood sugar when the doctor sends you to do lab to have blood drawn for them to find out if you are diabetic. your ac 1 will be under 7.0% .cause 7% or higher makes high risk of complations with diabetes.

Thank You Berrykins, I wish I was a pre-diabetic.When I was diagnosed with type 2 ,7 years ago, they told me my sugar was in the 700s. I often wonder how long before this I was diabetic & could it have been prevented. Today, I'm still a mess, I'm a Brittle diabetic & my sugars are all over the place. My a1c is 9.0%, not good.

Hi. Yes,I believe their is a borderline diabetes. It is a stage just before you reach your full diabetic diagonisis. I believe at this stage if your careful you will not develop diabetes. I really don't know a whole lot about it because I was never pre diabetic. I went from being normal to full diabetes and insulin in a year. But what I do know is yes there is such a thing and if its carefully watched it does not have to turn to diabetes. I hope I've helped you in some way with this answer. God bless!

Hi Realsis, Thank you for helping me with this. Like I said, I'm still learning & it's tough. Anyway, what the heck is a KOI FISH??

realsis77 2011-09-04 17:39:17 -0500 Report

:) koi are a special kind of fish that grow very large in an outside pond. They have many different types and bright colors. They orgionated from Japan. They fish are so friendly they eat from your hand and some like to be petted! They can pricey but live a good long time with proper care. Some have been known to live up to 100 years!

apparently there is… its a thin line between boarderline and diabetic..

Normal: Normal blood sugar levels measure less than 100 mg/dl (milligrams per deciliter) after the fasting glucose test.

Prediabetes: Blood glucose levels of 100-125 mg/dl after an overnight or eight-hour fast is diagnosed as prediabetes. People with these results are considered to have impaired fasting glucose (IFG).

Diabetes: Diabetes is diagnosed when the blood glucose is 126 mg/dl or above.

Thank You, I went to that link, and now I learned something new. I'm still learning about diabetes, like I said, I've only been a diabetic for 7 years, and I still have a lot to learn. Thank You again. Richard Harnaga

I've heard the term "pre-diabetes" and the medical community recognizes that term. Maybe that is what your friend is. I don't know what the criteria is for this. Maybe someone else who know more will be able to answer this for you.

Rich1956 2011-09-03 18:36:21 -0500 Report

Thank You Too, I never heard the term pre-diabetes until today. Now when I see my friends, I'm going to apoligize & just tell them I'm not a doctor,I'm just a just a diabetic. Thank You again

My doctor told me that you either had diabetes 0r not. No more pre-diabetes any more. It seems that you either have it or you don't.
