I am really enjoying the "walking" thing. I walk a mile. I walk to the store. I park miles from my destination. I walk around the office while at work. On the weekends, I walk in the mall…maybe treat myself…to a purchase…I have to do this until I am 90 years old…will I make it?

How do you walk to reduce your blood sugars?

My friend, Tina, and I walk 2 to 3 times a week. We do 2 to 3 miles in 40 to 60 minutes and get our heart rate up. I find that it can cause my BG to drop by 80 to 100 points during that hour…have to be careful to avoid low BG's then. Walking is truly an effective exercise. I wish I could discipline myself to do it more often!

Monday & Wednesday I walk a mile on the treadmill. Tuesday & Thursday I ride about 2 miles on the stationary bike. Friday is my errand day, so I try to speed walk while doing my shopping. On the weekends, I try to get some activities in with the family… The putting range, bowling, walking in a nature park, etc. I've been doing this for a couple of weeks and to be honest, it's getting harder & harder each day to convince myself to do it every day. I need to figure out something to do with the upper body or my legs are going to look like Schwarzenegger while my upper body looks like Roseanne. LOL…

I walk a lot too, until recently. After my flu shot, I have been having pain in my feet and severe pain in my joints whenever I walk outside. I'm hoping it's only temporary.
