After several years of out of control type II I made the decision to get back on track by loosing weight and eating healthy, plus regular exercising. I am now off diabetes meds and woke up this morning with a 103.

HELLO FRIENDS , GABBY , I TOO…GOOFED OFF FOR NEARLY 6 YEARS…IN CARING FOR MY CONDITION…MY THINKING WAS " IF I DON'T CLAIM IT …I DON'T HAVE IT " )…WELL , I CAN ASSURE YOU…THAT IS A SHORT , FAST ROAD TO COMPLICATIONS…AND THE GRAVE !
SO , THE QUESTION WAS…HOW DID YOU GET MOTIVATED ?…ONE MORNING…I GOT UP…REALIZED JUST HOW REALLY AWEFUL I FELT…AND AT A NOT TOO VERY OLD AGE !…I SUFFERED A NEAR LIFE ENDING , MASSIVE SYSTEMIC INFECTION , CALLED MERSA…THAT WHILE , BY IT SELF , IS A VERY NASTY PROBLEM ,TO RECOVER FROM…MY CASE WAS MADE MUCH WORSE , BECAUSE , MY AVERAGE B/G WAS A STEADY 180 TO 200 + …EVERYDAY …FOR YEARS !… THIS ALLOWED MY SYSTEM FOR BE WIDE OPEN FOR ANY LITTLE BUG , TO HAVE AN ADVANTAGE , IN SETTING UP AN INFECTION , IN MY BODY…SO , WHEN MERSA ,MOVED IN …I WAS IN A BATTLE FOR MY LIFE…7 1/2 MONTHS , I LAID IN A HOSPITAL…CUT TO RIBBIONS , AS THE SURGIONS TRIED TO STAY AHEAD OF THE ADVANCING FLESH EATING BUGS…THAT WERE IMMUNE TO MOST STANDARD ANTIBIOTIC S…I WAS TOLD , I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH CHANCE TO RECOVER…AND I HAD TO FACE THE FACT , I MAY LEAVE MY 11 YEAR OLD SON , ALONE…
ONE MORNING , THE HEAD DOCTOR , CAME IN , TOLD ME ,THEY HAD A NEW MEDICATION…WERE NOT SURE,WOULD WORK…BUT , IT WAS MY LAST HOPE…SO , THEY STARTED THE I.V. AND WE ALL WAITED…IT WAS THE NIGHT ODF THE 5 TH DAY..OF THE NEW ANTIBIOTIC , WHEN I WAS TOLD , MY FEVER HAD DROPPED 3 DEGREE'S !! THAT WAS HOPE !…THE WANTED ME TO DRINK AS MUCH WATER AS POSSIABLE ,TO HELP FLUSH MY SYSTEM…IN ANOTHER WEEK…THE INFECTION BEING TO LOOSEN IT S GRIP ON MY BODY…YWO WEEKS ,LATER…I'M HOME…HEALING …TAKING CONTROL OF MY LIFE…MY HEALTH AND DIABETES…I LOST 100 LBS. STARTED BEING PROACTIVE…EATING RIGHT…AND LIVING AGAIN…
THE MORAL OF THIS STORY…IT TOOK , NEARLY DYING , TO MOTIVATE ME…DO NOT LET THAT BE WHAT IT TAKES TO MOTIVATE YOU…CAUSE , SOMETIMES…THE DRUGS DO NOT WIN …I HOPE MY STORY ,WILL HELP ANYONE , WHO HAS TAKEN A LESS THAT PRO ACTIVE ATTITUDE WITH THEIR HEALTH ISSUES…JUST NOT WORTH IT ! BELIVE ME !! BRENDA

That would certainly wake me up! How horrible and wonderful at the same time. I bet your son is very glad for that change.

Please share some of the ways you were able to get yourself motivated to do that. I am in a similar place and really want to get a tighter reign on things for myself.
