I had toe nail fungus a few years ago I was using a liquid nail polish for toe fungus it worked very well. Now 5 yrs. later I can't get anything that works. I decided to call my old clinic Foot clinic of New York (Harlem) and they do the nail polish $25 so I will be making a visit soon. In the mean time i'll try vinegar & perioxide thanks.

I have fungus on my finger nails. Every nail has it. This is so humiliating, as I can't hide them. I can't take Lamisil and my doc prescribed some paint on stuff that's no good. I don't no anymore what to do. I'm so embarrassed. Does anyone know how the Vicks vapor rub is to be applied and how to keep it on your finger nails? Thank you in advance for your help :)

Vicks Vaporub is an excellent remedy for athletes foot/nail fungus. Be sure to work it up under the nail to completely eradicate the fungus.

Heard about vics a long time ago but never used it. Been using it now for about 3 wks and the nails and starting to look good. Dr Ozz recommended a menthol rub but I can not remember the name.

My understanding is that its the best thing going; blue Listerine accomplishes the same results but will give you Smurf feet!! :)

Sally's Beauty Supply sells Nail Fungus drops…maybe WalMart does to. It comes with either a brush or an eyedropper to drop it on. Works fantastic. I have fungus on my fingernails right now. It's because the nail bed stays wet too long. I wear tips on my fingernails and sometimes the water gets underneath the tip.
MAKE SURE YOU DRY YOUR TOENAILS thoroughly after a shower or bath. Either your feet are sweating or your toenails are getting moisture somehow and staying damp and warm. Like tabbie1 says, try Vicks VaporRub. It's much cheaper than the fungus medicine. And works great!

Oh no! That's too bad! I get a pedicure once a month just so that someone will massage my feet and calves to get the circulation going. The problem with your feet, besides being diabetic, is that your circulation has slowed way down. Either you must exercise regularly by walking or you need regular massage to get the blood flowing.

My fiancee has nail fungus and has tried every medication over the counter with no success. Someone told him to use Vicks Vapor Rub so he tried that and within a couple of days he saw an amazing difference. It began killing the fungus immediately and he hasn't had issues since.

Why can't you get your nail removed because you work? You wear socks don't you? That's really all the protection youneed while wearing shoes. My left big toenail has been falling off for the last twenty years because of a nail infection. It falls off, takes two years to grow back, it falls off again and starts the process over again. Nail infections are impossible to completely cure. RX pills hurt the liver, otc cures don't. Get the nail removed.

You can ask your doctor to deaden the nerve in your toe that way your toenail will not grow back. My brother was having the same problem. He had both of his toenails removed. He loves it…no more ingrowns. About the liver thing..I have to be tested on September 6th. I'll inform you if my liver got damaged from taking the meds.

I have nail fungus now. I had an ingrown toenail, went to a podiatist(foot doctor) and was told I have had this nail fungus for a while. I'm on medication for it. My advice is to go see a foot doctor and get it cleared up for life. If you don't, it will not disappear. The vinegar may help, but not a permanent resolution. Best of luck.

I had the big toe nails removed and went back to work the follwoign Monday with no discomfort. Have done late on Friday and you should be ok on Monday. Watch out for further complications and do not let it get out of control.

go to www.nomiss.com they have a roduct thant is for nail fungus and it comes in two different sized bottles. the bottles have a dropper in them and you put it at the tip of your nail and drop a few drops on the tip twice a day, do it so it gets under the nail. It works great. My doctor told me about this and I got it for my husband. Doctor to me to get it for the ridges in my nails and within a month my ridges were gon and my nails were strong. My husbands toe nail fungus went away after about two months.

I had the same nasty black fungus going on under my big toe nail and I mentioned it to the lady who does my finger nails and she said to try the stuff that I'm supposed to use under the free edge of my nails everyday and see if that helps. I never remember to use for my nails, but I used a drop or so under the toenail that was nasty religiously everyday for about 3 months and darned if it isn't growing out all nice and pink and has reattached itself to the nail bed!
It's a Tammy Taylor product called Thymolize Solution. The active ingrediient is Thymol Crystals, whatever they are! Smells awful but works great. I keep my toes polished so I don't have to look at them, but everytime I take the polish off, the toe looks better and better!
You could check with a manicurist or Beauty School and see if they could find you some?

there is a pill and most insurances don't cover it, it's very expensive and you have to take it for about 3 months maybe more. I have a discolored toenail caused by this fungus and I talked to my dr a few years ago about it, I decided not to take the pill and being female I can paint my toe nailsj :) good luck to your husband!

sorry to hear it's getting worse, mine is just sticking to the one toe nail, I was T2 when I got it but the doc said it had nothing to do with diabetes (whatever), is the doc you mentioned a podiatrist? if not can you go see one? I would hope they would have a better answer. Are you saying you're soaking your feet (foot) in a mix of vinegar and peroxide? When I was at the library a few days ago I noticed a book on home remedies…couldn't hurt to look there or online somewhere :) good luck

My podiatrist suggested I use vicks vapo rub on my feet to combat foot fungus. Put it on at night and put socks on it.
I haven't tried it yet, but others have recommended it on other discussions about the same subject.

you can probably find the Fungi Cure at most drug stores and definitely at Wal Mart, Kmart etc. :), since it doesn't affect any other area or spread to other toes, mine never has in the 10+ years I've had it, I can live with it and paint my toe nails to hide it :)

I had the toe nail fungus for a very long time, tried everything!!! Finally went to the dr. He prescribed lamisil by mouth. You can only take it for 10 days once a day, wait a month then take it for another 10 days, once a day. Have to be careful because of any effects on liver. My fungus is now gone, YAY!! Just painted my toenails yesterday. Good luuck.

Wow, so sorry you had a bad experience. I finished with the lamisil by mouth back in February. I took it once a day for ten days, then had to wait a month and take it for another ten days. Dr. said since liver problems can definitely develop with this med, we had to be very careful. I had no problems and thankful that I didn't. Hope you have a great day. :)

Lil, you can look up toe and nail fungus on Google. It is really hard to get rid of. After many years of trying over the counter methods, my doctor gave me the lamisil and that got rid of it.
