I went to see my Diabetic Dr on Monday and got an awesome report. My A1C level 3 months ago was at 11, i am now at…drum roll please… 7.9!!!!! I am so proud of myself. Even though he had to put me on insulin 3 months ago. So alng with 2 tpes of diabetic pills AND insulin, my A1C is finnally moving down. I have been really trying to stick to not easting things that i shouldnt and it has paid off. Yay for me!!!!!!! :)

Thank you to everyone that responded to my post. It makes me feel good to know that i have back up not only in my home but from friendly people that i don't even know!!! Thank you so much for all the encouragement. I know that everyone's A1C will go down and be a good level.

That is great news. So was it just the insulin or did you do other things to help you get it to drop that much?

That is great Annie keep up the good work. It all pays off in the end when you end up not getting complications due to BS being high and A1C being high. Your A1C show the doctor what your BS have been for the past three months, I know a lot of people think oh I can eat this and do this and the doctor won't know, they are wrong. That A1C is going to be the downfall for those who think they can tell the doctor they are doing everything they are suppost to do.

Congratulations Annie… that's great news!! Keep up the good work. It's so hard to change old habits but if you keep your focus and keep doing what you are doing you will see great results. I am on metformin and victoza and have been on them since May and June .. I can't wait until my next visit next week to see if much has changed. I have lost 20lbs since October 12lbs of it since the DM meds … I still don't feel 100% but I am sure I will get there … the meds keep me feeling not too well but the results so far are great … my BS are normal and I have deveoped SOME good eating habits BUT I am a picky eater so I don't know what to eat and I am bored with what I am eating … BUT maybe one day there will be a balance. Your message is encouraging … Keep it up and many blessing to you through your journey. Have a great day!!

Congratulations!! I know how good it feels to see your numbers go down. In Nov 2010 my A1C was 9.3, by Feb 2011 it was 7.4. I had worked really hard and I know the effort you had to put in to get your number down as far as you did! Keep up the good work!

I am also on 2 oral meds and today I will learn to use insulin. A little afraid but the needles seem small and thin so hope it won't be bad. Don't like needles much. I am taking my husband with me so he can learn to give me my shots too. I said I may get cranky one day and not be able to bring myself to do it. Instructor says it's a good idea to have a supporter at home who can help out when we get a little burned out.

yes, it is a good idea to have a supporter. I use the Levemir flexpen and the needles are thin. You still feel a prick, almost like a stick pin, not to bad. I took my husband with me and he knows how to give me my insulin. I also showed my 15 yo son just in case his dad was not home. Everything will be just fine. :)

Because of my ins. I decided to go with the old fashioned vial and syringe. I really wanted the pen but had the mistaken notion that it was like my poker for testing, you know, didn't see the needle till it poked you! Thought that would be less scary. But no matter, I have no choice but to get used to it.
