I sure could use some suggestions on a mask problem that I have. Every morning I wake up with two deep red lines where my mask has marked my skin. I sleep on my side. Does anyone want to share how they maybe keep this from happening? I have tried tissues and paper towels but nothing really works. I sometimes have to wait hours for the indent-like scars to go away. Can anyone suggest something that works?

I use a cpap machine also and I have the straps and got them where I got my machine for $15.00 they are made out of fleece so you could make them yourself but what has worked for me is the pillow, mine was on sale for $35.00 but I would pay $70.00 for one now that I know it works. No marks and also when I turn over I do not have to adjust my mask and straps anymore I sleep all night. It looks really funny its straight across the top with u shape places on each side and at the bottom but it works!!

Thanks to everyone who made a suggestion. Most of the things I tried, but I didn't know they made strap covers either. Last night (don't laugh) I went to my sock drawer and found a nice pair of soft ones and folded them so they fit right under the straps. So far, this has worked better than anything I've ever used. I still had cloth marks on my face, but they went away much quicker than the strap marks.

I am sooo glad that you found something that is working…
One thing that I learned from this, I will not suggest anything unless, I have tried it myself.
Was only trying to help, Leigh

I have strap covers that I bought on EBay. They help me with the strap mark problem. They also make covers for the forehead part of your mask. Check under hose covers.
I use a $19.95 memory foam pillow and that also helps.

Strap covers and if you have a rain out problem in winter I use a hose cover. Also from EBay.

Thanks, I looked at them on EBay, I think I can make my own. They are only fleece and those are hand sewn anyway so I'm going to give it a try… :) Thanks for the idea

Hi there, I also have CPAP machine and have the same problem. When I was at the Home Medical place recently to get my machine checked they tried to sell me a special pillow that would help that as it's contoured with a place for your cheek so you don't get the 'dents'. But it was $50 so I didn't get one.
I get up early, before I have to go somewhere and massage my face with a little lotion (suggestion from massage therapist) to bring the blood back to the areas that have the lines. That seems to help it come back faster.

am on a bi-pap machine and I have the same problem. Well I was told that when I prick my finger to run hot water over it for a better blood flow. So in the AM
I take a hor wash cloth and place it on my face and it seems to work. Hope this helps you.

I have the same problem when I wake up in the morning. When I check in on my parents in the morning they both have the red strap markings. It doesn't seem to matter how you adjust the straps either. If you loosen them it causes the mask to leak. My dr. suggested to put moleskin on the strap, but I haven't tried that.
