I made friends with my diabetes. Because he/she is my friend. I treat my friend as any friend. I don't want to hurt my friend. I don't want my friend to hurt me. So when I respect my friend I don't get hurt. My friend hurts me when I don't respect him/her I get hurt. I hurt my friend when I don't eat properly. When I have sugar it makes my friend really angry so he hurts me with high blood readings. He does not want to hurt me because he is a friend. Respect your friend and he and and you will be at peace. Blessings.

That's an interesting way of viewing it! I see it in a different light. To me it's like a hungry crocodile waiting to be fed. Keep him well fed on healthy foods and he'll leave you alone. Don't ever forget he's there, because he will sneek up and bite ya!!

I take offense to being called a liar. You don't know me from adam and therefore don't have any idea of how I feel about anything. So you feel differently, that's fair. I'm sure you're not the only one. But I would never tell you, or anyone else for that matter, to not have your feelings nor would I ever say you were being untruthful about them. My feelings and relationship with my D is just that…mine. So, I politely urge you to vent freely but consider your words a little better in the future.

My diabetes is a familiar stranger whom I'm getting to know better on a daily basis. Great post. Thanks.

I think of Diabetes as my lifelong companion rather than as a friend. A true friend does not hurt you.

I have embraced my diabetes, but I have to say that this is the first time I have considered it my friend. Thank you for such a fresh view on our life long friend.
