My husband had a question and I don't remember seeing anything here on this so figured I'd ask y'all about it. He said that our doctor had mentioned to him about a new or ongoing study of a pill for diabetics to help them lose weight. He isn't sure if he wants to do this study and wanted to know if any one had any information on it as far as does it work, any side effects and/or interactions with other medications.

Any and all information that any one has will be greatly appreciated by both of us as he tries to decide whether or not to do this study. He has been on a study with a newer insulin for almost 2 years and has been doing great on it so he is thinking that he may try this one too.

Glucoseline.com they have a pill that is specifically made for diabetics to help loose weight and helps lower bs levels. I have a friend who took it an she loves it. I would try it and see if the doctor is ok wih it you have nothing to loose but weight if that is what you want.

OF course Gemm, have hubby check with Dr. about the diet pills. But I have never been a big fan of diet pills.

I had been up and down with my weight for various reasons. I gained it back and was up in the 215 lb range at the end of 2010. I wanted to regulate my diabetes by what I ate, and to discontinue my daily dosages of insulin. So with my Dr's knowledge, I stopped my insulin and started on a low carb high protein meal plan of my own design. I completely stopped eating bread of any kind, even the whole grains breads. I had stopped eating potatoes or rice of any kind already. I avoided the high starch vegetables, and cut down the amount of fruit I ate. I eat mostly berries now, and few of them.

Since I started on this eating plan in Feb 2011 my BG readings have been in the "normal" range, my May A1c was 5.5, and to date in August 2011 I have lost about 50 lbs.

Maybe before your hubby tries diet pills he might want to try this eating plan.

Should he want further information about this, I'd be happy to share.

Blessings to you and yours

As long as your doctor thinks it might be a good idea, personally in my opnion id give it a try.it is doctor supervised and doctor sugested so I think it just might be a good thing?? Be careful and if you become ill from it stop it right away and consult your doctor! I suppose because your doctor suggested it it would be worth a try?
