i just found out i have diabetes and ms
im having a very hard time with both
does anyone out there have both?
i have to take a leave from my job
due to the pain andi cant stand for more than 4 hours
also cant walk very good due to the pain im in
i have worked since 1976
can i go on ssi?
i just dont know what to do
any suport or info will help

I believe you have to have 10 quarters of recent work (payments to SSA) to be eligible to be covered for disability. You have to first be unable to work. Get a Dr's letter stating you are unable to work.

It can be frustrating getting approved for SSDi. Likely they will deny the first application. Do not take that as the final answer. Appeal. If it is complicated (mine was not due to the condition I had — ESRD ) you might seek the services of a legal firm which specializes in such cases. They do require payment if they win your case, but I don't know the details of that. But if it is a choice between getting no money, or getting a little less every month than you would have, you would have to make that choice

i got my papers out you say i need 10 quarters well the paper says that if i were to go on ssi today i might get $1400 a month, so does that me i have my 10 quarters in

I really couldn't say for sure. I am not well versed in this SSA stuff. All I told you is what I remember from the time I was put on disability due to my ESRD = Dialysis (automaticly by law) and a couple other discussions here on DC over the years. I wouldn't want to tell you wrong. You might have to seek out other more credible advise on that.
