My endo a few years ago gave me carbamazepine for my neuropathy pain. Worked great. I also have restless leg syndrome (not severe) and it helped with that as well. Only side effect that I got was it does make me sleepy, but not so bad that I couldn't fight through it during the day when I needed to.

I have had neuropathy for years… See if your doctor or your health insurance will pay for Cymbalta. I have tried a number of the other drugs, (Gabapentin, neurotin, lasix, even tried percocet to eleviate the pain.. although that worked well, you need to take it sparingly so not to build up a tolerence for it and it is a narcotic) and almost all of the OTC cream. The only thing that really helped was Cymbalta and now that I have to be on disability, the insurance doesnt pay for it and here in the US the prescription costs $175 month. the doctors will have to have you try every other "approved" drug on the ins co. list, but if you keep telling him the others dont work… they will finally approve Cymbalta. Good Luck!!

Narelle, I have it too, and I can honestly say (more honestly than Pres. B. Clinton could) "I feel your pain" I have tried Neurontin(Gabepentin) without success. I am on a antidepressant Nortryptelene which by itself doesn't seem to do much either. I seem to notice a decrease in my intensity of pain recently as I am controlling my BG levels closer to normal and I am taking Alpha Lipolic Acid (ALA).

I have tried a "diapedic" cream from Anastasia Marie Labs which was a bust. There was a product review on that, or perhaps a discussion on it (can't remember which now) and I did a 2 month test and found it didn't do diddly squat for my neuropathy pain. I really haven't yet found anything which takes the pain completely away. I can block the pain from my mind for a while when I get absorbed in something. I forget about it when I am having fun dancing, for instance.

Sorry Narelle! I had hoped I could have been more helpful.

I will pray for you about this too!
