Grandmaducky, do you keep a journal with your daily information of bg's, food intake , and medications. I keep a journal for each day. I make a check mark over my insulin numbers, and also over the space for medications. The check mark lets me know for sure that I have taken everything that I need to take. This has helped me. Good Luck.

every body can forget like this especially if there's alot going on, or if you're stressed, tired or just other normal reasons. Forgetfullness does come with age but everyone forgets they's why they made med holders for the days of the week or morning noon and night. lol

Do any of us do what? What was the question? lol

Yes, I forget, more often than not, I forget to TAKE my pills. I usually remember if I took them, though. I use a pill minder, too.

I take lexapro and that causes memory problems. I think a lot of medications have that effect.

Boy, I hear ya! Between my real meds and the vitamins I take for various things, it's a handful of pills and I can't remember my own name half the time! I, too, have found a pill keeper to be invaluable. I used to be so afraid I would overdose if I gave in to my uncertainty about my meds and took them - (again??). Instead, I probably robbed myself of the benefits of ANY of them for that day! So, for me the pill keeper AND setting a regular routine was key. When I'm home, I usually don't have a problem anymore because it's such a habit now (get up, start the coffee, take my BG reading and down my meds) ~ but it's a whole 'nother matter when we're traveling on vacation. My routine goes out the window and it's a real struggle to remember to take them on time. Good luck!

Really, my pills are in a box labeled S-M-T=W-TH-F-S with an AM & PM slot. I load it up once a week with my pills and supplements. As long as I know what day of the week it is, I can pick it up and see if I have taken my meds. Sadly, there are times I am sure I took my meds and look at the slot and it is full other times I don't think I have taken them and it is empty. Sometimes I have to power up my cell phone to be sure I have the right day of the week. :)

The real question is - Is there anyone who hasn't?

It's like walking into a room and wondering why the heck you are there!!

grandmaducky 2011-08-14 18:01:06 -0500 Report

I had a brother-in-law who REALLY couldn't remember if he took his pills; at one time he took 2 months worth of pills in less than a week. Don't let that happen to you, take jayabee52's advice and get a pill minder. I bet most of us have something similar.

jayabee52 2011-08-14 17:27:38 -0500 Report

Yes I have done that from time to time.

But I have gotten a pill minder divided into 4 times a day and I have one for each of the 7 days in a tray. That will tell me if I had just taken the pills or not. My bride Jem put me onto that because she had one since she took one Heck of a lot of pills in a day.

I have one of those pill minders also. What really sucks is when you forget what day it is to know if you forgot to take your pills or not. I have a seven day minder for pills and vitamins and my wife has one that is good for the whole month that is set for morning, noon, dinner and bedtime dividers. They also have a product called Dose Alert that is like a timer to remind you to take your pills.

Wonderful! Glad you had a good time. How did your BG numbers turn out?

I like the 7 day a week one (they are each 4 times a day box loose in a 7 day tray) That way I can sit down and fill the tray for the whole week
