There should be a Chatroom on Diabetic Connect . Anyone agree with me?

I agree I wish this site had a chat room. It would be so much easier to see who is online and easier to keep in touch.

I totally agree. Do any of you have the newest meter that you don't have to use your fingers? I think one of them is Arriva and then there is one you can test on your forearm. I don't test very often because I can hardly squeeze the blood out of my fingers and then they are bruised for days. Anyone???

Yeah sure, no drama Facebook. I truly think a Chatroom for this site is a great idea. Maybe some of the people who were on here who caused problems are not on here anymore. And, maybe there can be an adminstrator of the room, like on AOL chat rooms, that can intervene or boot someone out.

you haven't been on DC long enough to see the drama erupt here from time to time. but generally it is short-lived and not as nasty. Our administrators sometime have to step in and say something from time to time.

I'm young & know all about chats. I prefer this way. I like what James said about answers. If you are not in a chat room when that question is asked you never get to comment or see other opinions. Plus most of my access is on my smart phone & a chat room would kill the battery. More over I would miss half of what was said waiting for this thing to load over and over…JMO…

I agree. Having to wait to see if someone is gonna comment or answer sometimes has me just getting off the computer, and since I don't get out much, I haven't got friends who live close. I'm about to drive my mom and sister nuts, calling all the time, and all they have to say is "yeah, uh-huh, oh really?"

I like it the way it is, but a chatroom would be good too.

I agree with Nonna, they move very quickly and you have to be able to keep track of your conversation while reading several others at the same time, and by the time you decide what you want to say, the whole topic has changed! I'm sure my 15 yr. old daughter could keep up with it, as she can talk to 5 of her friends at one time, but I am too old! LOL!!! The regular DC site may not be as fast, but at least it is not frustrating to keep up with the conversation, as you can just post whatever you want at whatever time is good for you…well that's my 2 cents worth…lol…

I'm neutral on it. If it were added I most likely would not use it just because chat room conversations usually move too fast for me to keep up with the conversation.

I can't type, I keyboard. And I have to look at the keyboard to type anything so usually while I am busy typing a comment or reply the conversation in the screen moved on and the subject sometimes changes and then I hit the send button and my comment goes out there and sits awkwardly in the middle of a completely different conversation.

I am new at alot of this also but I think I would like chat, I am not fast at typing anymore eather. But if I could not keep up I think others would help. And if I did not like it than I would leave it to others that did.

I too am frustrated by chatrooms I've been in. I type slow and so by the time I get said what I want to say, the discussion has moved on and my reply hangs out there in cyberspace without the context to which I was replying. I think that makes me look like a real DORK. Tried a couple times. Didn't like it. Didn't go back.

I think a chatroom is a good idea. Yes, we can "chat" here, but you don't get an immediate response like you would in a chat room. And sometimes I would like to have a real conversation with someone who can give me an immediate feedback or answer. It seems more perosnal and caring that way. Chatting here like this means you have to wait il who knows how long for someone to make a comment on what you're talking about.

jayabee52
jayabee52 2011-08-18 20:31:57 -0500 Report

A chat room is not a guarantee that one will get a reply at all. I have asked questions on chatrooms which no one answered. I have seen the same things happening to others. My personal favorite is still the discussion board. The people who may know about that subject one is asking may not be in the room at the time that the question is asked and the conversation flows so fast sometimes that the question gets quickly swept away and forgotten.

And maybe an immediate response may be desired, but for a question that is more technical in nature I would prefer accuracy to immediacy. But that's just me.

I think what would be good is to get chat and allow those who want to use it as a means of stress releaf and fun. I like chat of facebook I get to talk to my family and friends way more. I don't know if I would like to use it on here or not I would have to see

jayabee52
jayabee52 2011-08-19 22:59:10 -0500 Report

I wouldn't use it because of the reasons I wrote about about above. If others would use it I wouldn't begrudge its use, but I know myself, and I the way I work best.

There are other ways of stress relief we've used here on DC over the nealy 3 yrs I've been here. We had a discussion "Good Morning, afternoon or evening " where it was just like neighbors chatting over the fence. Everything and Anything would come up and be discussed. That was vry popular for a while. We also had Jokes discussions — nothing but jokes and humor. Then there were the popular "Piss N Moan" discussions, where we vented griped, ect. That was kind of a catch all discussion too.
