Oh, I LOVE going to the county fair…there was no 4-H in Chicago when I was growing up (or if there was, I never knew about it) but I sure enjoy wandering around looking at the wonderful animals the kids have raised - especially the special breed rabbits or chickens. Also love visiting the horse barns, etc, and watching the tractor or horse pulls…On Fridays they have Senior Citizen day so I can get in for five dollars. That doesn't include rides, as the regular admission does, but that's not what I go for, so I don't care!

Congrats on the rewards for hard work. I was in 4H as a city kid and enjoyed the fair. After moving to a small town I went to the fair and a few other nearby county fairs each year. I won a few ribbons for weaing. One was for a lap throw done on an antigue weave-it. Since moving back to the big city last year I haave missed the fair. Been thinking I might try entering a few Bee photos next year. Don't know if I will get around to weaving by next year, but if I do I will enter a project.

Our family goes to the local fair every year it's always a really great time. Years ago my mother and grandmother would entry their sewing projects, they would always bring home a ribbon or two.

I used to be in 4-H and had many projects in the fair. So during my youth I was at the fair a lot of years. I also entered projects in the Future Farmers of America contests. But after I went to college I didn't go to so many fairs. The mother of my sons was a city girl and we didn't enroll them in the 4-H chapters where we lived. So I got out of the fair going habit.

Congratulations to your daughter, and to you on her achievements. You must be very proud of her.

Blessings to you and yours

Thank you! I am very proud of my daughter and son and all their accomplishments. She has only done 4-H for three years and has been grand champion in bucket calves since her first year in the 4-H. She joins FFA this year so we look forward to going to more fairs next year.
