I have had a cold/virus thing for 3 days and my numbers are kind of high: 138 last night and 128 fasting this morning. Is it just the virus or less exercise? Not eating as much? This is depressing me a bit.

Wow! If I had numbers that good there would be rounds of high fives!!! Being sick definitely makes your numbers go up, but it sounds like you are in great control. Good job!!! My numbers have been known to go way into the 300s when I'm sick. Consider yourself blessed!!!

Wow. Those numbers are great for me… My range is 80-180. But anyways, if it really bothers you, you could up your dosage. Not sure if you're type 1 or 2. Hope you feel better soon

hi Marytea, I have a cold, throat infection and a nasty cough ugh. I have notice this morning that my blood sugar was high even after taking my insulin and actos. I think it is because of me being sick. I have been drinking a lot of tea with honey and orange juice which I know makes bg rises. I'm not worry about it right now just trying to get over this sickness. I hop that you will feel better soon.

Add some whiskey to your tea. Drink every half hour. After 3 hours you won't care about your cold or your numbers! Feel better soon. Jim

Just your body trying to fight the virus can jack up your BG numbers. Our bodies need energy (glucose) to fight foreign invaders and to rebuild.

Sometimes my numbers go up without having a cold, but my body still may be fighting a virus.

Please don't be discouraged.

Going through that right now … and really, to me those numbers are good for someone fighting a cold/virus … keep up the good work!
