I am sitting in for my friend that was diagnosed only a week ago with Type 2. She had a level of over 500, spent the night in the hospital, was given medication to take and the whole 9 yards. She still can't get enough energy up to exercise long enough to knock the extra sugars out of her system. We go on walks at least once a day (if she can muster up the "git-up-n-go"). She is wanting to know how long it is supposed to take to get her blood sugar levels down to an acceptable range. She has started changing her diet, checking levels several times a day, taking medication, getting up and around when she can. So far the levels have went from the over 500 down to roughly 338 in the morning fasting, to 388 about 2 hours after meals, to about 360 or so before bed and meds. Any help is so greatly appreciated.
