over the past few weeks I have been waking up with a real bad sore throat, it is very dry and sometimes I can taste blood. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimotos disease and was placed on medication. Has anybody else experienced anything like this with a thyroid problem. I do have a doctors appointment next week so I hope to find out what is causing this as it is a bit scary.

Are you sure you are not just reacting to the cold down there? Maybe check to see if you are snoring. I have never heard of that happening because of thyroid, but like Jolene said, I would check out the site she gave you. Another one that helps a lot is WebMD

There is does say that there could be an attack on your thyroid by the disease, so it might be directly related to that, versus the actual thyroid. Maybe you could get in earlier to the doctor. You may not want to wait on this one.

rellypoo — the best place on the internet to learn about all things thyroid is … if it wasn't for the information I learned there I would never have known I wasn't being treated correctly when my thyroid was removed, which lead to me finding another doctor and being treated correctly. Please go there.

I'm so sorry you're having yet another health issue. I wish I could help, but I don't know anything about that. Sorry friend Narelle. ;-) Mara

No, Narelle, with all the "medical challenges" I've had, the only thyroid problem was enlarged nodules which scared my endo into thinking I might have thyroid cancer, and doing a needle biopsy, twice. No thyroid cancer, thank the Lord. I am told my shivering in "normal" room temps. may be low thyroid related. I am sure that it is scary!

I pray that you find out in your appointment next week —- but only good news!
