One of the strangest things I have found out since being diagnosed (first grade) is that whenever I'm asleep, if I start yelling, or getting up to go pee or get a drink, I'm 95 percent of the time high! (blood sugar of course. Lol) when I say yelling, I mean while I'm still in bed dreaming. Has this happened to anyone else? But last night I woke up and was thirsty, I get up get a glass of water and check. 250. I guess I should be thankful that I have this strange "ability" and my body gives certain signals even when asleep! Just wanted to share and see if anybody else had strange thing happen when high or low!

You said that 95 percent of the time, you have a high sugar reading. Try drinking water with a whole lemon squeezed in there. I drink it just like that or use a sugar substitute.

yes this has happen with my son (6years old) he was recently dignosed in May. One night it had happen and he was screaming so loud in his sleep once I got him up I check his b/s and it was 104 but he was talking crazy (delirious) so I checked it again within 10 mintues r so his b/s level had drop to 53. I was so scare I panic but than realize I have to get it together for him. These last few months has been a rollercoaster!!! what make this happen?

I was diagnosed around the same time as you're son, it gets better. Trust me. You start to figure things out and it gets much easier. Don't lose your hope & courage! But this dreaming has only started since I was about 12. Not sure why, but I will be sure to tell you if I find out!

Yes I think it's good your body reacts to the high suger reading. I have been diagnosed in 94 after my first miscarriage. I didn't have it before my pregnancy. Through the years, I have woken up hearing myself. I don't know exactly if it was a yell or moan. I've learned to discipline my late night eating and that has helped control my readings.

My body wakes me up for lows and highs…I couldn't say if I have any weird things happen like that when I'm high or low because I am a very, stress the very, active sleeper. That's been one concern about the pump for me, that I might decide to pull the site out one night. My active sleep can be very dangerous too because I've gotten up and eaten and given myself a injection. It's like I go on auto pilot when I sleep. I never misssed my AM lantis injection, because asleep or awake…I'd get up and take it.

I almost go on autopilot, too! Sometimes I barely remember being up the next morning until I see some sign of my night eating in the kitchen. And, Josh, I think I saw that same documentary! Crazy!

Wow! That is crazy! I think I saw a documentary about that once, except it was an obese woman who ate while asleep. Very strange, good luck with that.

Oddly enough, I have something like that happen whenever I am low. My body wakes myself up whenever by blood sugar has gone below sixty in my sleep.

I'll ask around the JDCA and see if anyone else does the same.

I have had some strange dreams-i'm at work and having trouble with my balance or some such. When I woke up and tested I was low.

rayfamily 2011-08-04 21:20:13 -0500 Report

I also wake up when I'm low. Usually covered in sweat & stumbling to find a glass of OJ… Or an oreo! Thank God our bodies wake us up! When my sugar is high, I feel almost comatose. And in the morning, I'm still groggy & feel like a truck hit me! (all related to highs)

JoshSoccer4 2011-08-04 23:16:02 -0500 Report

I know the high feeling! Almost like being sick. I keep plenty of juice boxes in my room as well as some glucose tabs, gel, and drink. I'm plenty stocked! Lol. Both highs and lows feel terrible, so maybe we should try and keep it in between! ;) (sarcasm there!)
