I can officially say I have given up soda. I was drinking sometimes almost a 12 pack a day but my usual was 6 cans a day. My soda was my water source. The minute I got up I cracked a can open and then drank soda until I went to bed and depending on what time that was depended on how many I drank a day. About two weeks ago I first bought a camelbak bottle that has a filter in it so I can carry that with me in my purse and not have to worry about having change to buy something to drink since I can fill it anywhere and the filter is in it. I started using the bottle a lot and drinking less soda. I one day got up to have one and it was to sweet for me so I said forget it. I still have one once in a while mainly when I am out and about and need a quick sugar jolt and I choose a soda over a candy bar because soda doesn't melt in my purse like a candy bar does if I don't finish it. I think what helped me give up the soda is I didn't tell myself I'm going to quit drinking soda I slowly replaced it with water until I got sick to the taste of it.

Keep going! Good for you. I'm just a diet soda addict. Two years ago I gave it up for three months and lost three inches around the middle. Didn't loose any weight, just inches. But it didn't last because we don't have an ice machine that works. I drink about a gallon of fluid a day. But water is hard for me to swallow because I have a quarter of throat paralyzed, soda goes down better because the carbonation tickles the nerve endings and helps to swallow.

EXCELLENT Shannon! Glad to learn that you're on the way to giving sodas the boot! And there ARE better alternatives to soda should you need to raise your BG numbers from a low.

usually when I drop its because I have been out in the heat to long but sometimes I can't help it because I have to ride the bus everywhere. I try and do things first thing in the morning before it gets to hot but there are some days I have to go out in the heat of the day because of an appt that it was the only time I could get in which is why I opt for something that won't melt in my purse

actually chocolate is not the best choice to bring up a low FAST because of the fat in the chocolate delays digestion of the sugars. Some of those little squeeze tubes of cake decorating frosting are almost ideal. They won't melt and they bring up the Blood Glucose FAST. Even if you are unconscious someone could squirt the frosting into your mouth between your teeth. You might want to try them sometime.
