It is a little over 80 degrees in the house with about 98% humidity. So I'm in the kitchen making dinner. We are having a green salad with chicken chunks. Even though there is a minimum amount of cooking(browning chicken chunks, boiling eggs) there's a fair amount of prep work. I'm in the kitchen (away from my fan). And I'm sweating like a pig!!! My husband and daughter sit in the living room where its cooler. They claim I they dont help (re: my diabetes) because they "dont know what to do. Since we've had this heat I've talked about how this oppressive heat has been messing up my numbers. So I'm standing in the kitchen sweating like a pig. They can see me but no one offers to help. I'm so suck of this!

80 degrees in the house? whats is wrong with your a/c? stress can make your numbs go up. tell family if they can not help, for now on you will make your dinner only. maybe then they will help you.not knowing what to do (as they say) is no excuse not to ask or even try to help. good luck as i know you will need it as i did. darrin

Do not share the food you made!!!! Jking. Hey I have the same problem and it existed was before my diagnosis. You need to care for yourself. If the heat is stresisng you ( i cannot tolerate hot weather) have the kid do prep work! My son who is 18 is lazy and hub watches baseball all day. Now I simply cook for me or go to wendy's for a salad w grilled chicken ( 2 meals there for me ) P.S. Show them what to do or leave memo notes all over…

Okay. I was 98 before dinner. I only did 6 units of novolog. Could eat the green salad with chicken—too hot. Ate about 1/2 cup chilled boiled peanuts. Checked my blood 2 hours later? What the heck!?!
Should I shoot more insulin?

What was your 2 hr reading. You forgot to post it, Cookie. By your question about shooting insulin I gather it was high, but how high was it?

My 2 hr reading was 202. Just tested again avd it's 220. I think I need insulin- 4 units. Ya think?

It would seem so. What do you usually take?
and it may not be what you ate, but the stress of the heat, and the aggrevation you're feeling with your loved ones.

My equation at mealtime is 3 units for each unit of carbs plus 1 unit for each 30 over 100 bs plus 5. I just gave myself 4 more units after the 220. Well test in a while.
