I haven't tried it; however, I am a big fan of Blue Bells ice cream. So I limit myself to 1 scoup a week. That's my reward for the week.

No. But it sounds yummy though!! I can't eat any type of ice cream. It's dairy. & I'm a vegan.

A few months ago I posted an ice cream recipe that is fun to make especially w/kids. It's called baggie ice cream. You can make any flavor, any fat content, from fat free milk to heavy cream, any sugar/sugar sub. It only takes about 10 mins.

I have not tried that particular one, but we have tried Sweet Freedom Blue Bunny, it's like chocolate/vanilla, hardly has any real chocolate flavor, but is is very good, has several g of fiber, and is a popsicle. It is kind of large too. I find I do okay with that. We eat some of the Blue Bell sugar free too, but have to be careful with the servings, the portion size. I find most of the time I can stick to it. But I worry I won't sometimes, so I try not to ever buy the gallon sizes, but the ones in the small cups or half gallon, my daughter will eat her share and it won't be around long!

We sometimes get the single serving sizes of BlueBell ice cream and that helps a lot. My 1/2 cup can get pretty big on a stressful day.

A few months ago while listening to a Phillies game on the radio, 1 of the commentators said that very same thing. For some reason they were discussing the international date line. The 2nd Comm says, "then what's the next day?" to which the 1st one replied, "The 2nd day." LOL

ice cream is everyones folly. I know it is hard to stick to a one serving size but you can do it.. I try an excercize called mindfullness. For each spoonfull, study the color and texture. then smell it. do not put in mouth till mouth waters. then leave it swirl around in your mouth. then swallow. now savor all those feelings and sences you had while slowly eating that delectable morsel. now do the same for each spoonful. Food is to enjoy and savor not to gulp down. It takes 15 minutes for your brain to say you are full. When you gulp down your food in a hurry, you will eat a lot more then you need, then you keep gaining weight and being mad at yourself. This sounds rediculous but it works. Hard to daily practice mindfullness, but you can do it.

I love this concept and yes it does take a lot of self discipline. Reality the first bite is always the best. I never deny myself but will take a small bite and 99% of the time no more craving. My husband goes nuts because I can have a treat in the drawer beside the bed… a nibble is great… he will remind me daily I have an uneaten treat in the drawer… when I denied myself everything I craved it constantly.

I think this is a great idea. I know because I would buy dark chocolate and, just take a small bite and save it for the next day. This way you don't deprive yourself, like you said if you deny, then you crave it more.

I love this concept. Would you share it in a discussion of your own? I think it would help a lot of us with our portion control. This is a great idea!

I love ice cream too. No matter what it is I have lost self-control and will devour the ice cream until it is gone!

toodles, I have faith in you. You are never alone in this battle. When you are ready to eat more then you should, grab for the computer and come on this site and email a friend or two. Read some comments. Make some yourself. Keep your mind busy. Great tip I heard is when you get a sweet tooth, eat something spicy instead, it is supposed to supress youe sweet tooth.

I won't buy half gallons of ice cream any more. I buy individual ice cream treats like drumsticks. If I buy a multipack of drumsticks I have a friend keep them for me in his freezer with instructions to only give me one a day. It is very important to me that I don't over eat, especially with carbs because I'm trying to control my diabetes without meds, only by my eating plan. But I do like to get a treat each day so I don't feel deprived and go crazy with my eating. So far so good.!

I have an option for you. Did you ever freeze seedless grapes and eat a handful of frozen grapes for a snack? They are great.

actially I DO eat frozen strawberries, which are lower on the glycemic index than grapes. And I couldn't eat a handful. A handful of grapes would skyrocket my BG numbers. More than 5 strawberries would raise my BGs too.

I have recently been turned on to the frozen blueberries. I like them so much I have to limit myself.

Love Blue Bunny it is the best. Also like it with Hot fresh ground almond butter on it. or almond slivers and a bit of Smuckers SF choco syrup. One scoop of heaven. And my BG stays really good.

I love ice cream just not the sugar free ones. I just have a litle of the real stuff once in a great while.

Ice cream is my guilty pleasure. I don't eat sugar free and if I stay in the serving size of 1/2 cup with some walnuts on it, my levels are good with it. I have not tried the Blue Bunny brand, I use Blue Bell ice cream home made vanilla. That is the only one that works. When I start adding the other stuff like the "tracks" it is no longer a friendly food.
