I happen to believe that MOST Drs do the best they possibly can for their patients. But sometimes they can make mistakes. In my case I believe that my diagnosing Dr was trying to do the best for me when he put me on Metformin. And the Dr who put me on insulin likewise. But sometimes the best medicine was NO medicine. But I had to learn how to eat right, and my head was just not ready to do that until just recently. The meds helped me until the time I was ready to eat right and control it without meds.

UNFORTUNATELY not ALL people with diabetes can ever do without medications to control diabetes. I believe that Drs are doing their level best when they prescribe certain medications. Unfortunately some people are affected with side effects and must find some other medication to control their diabetes.

How much insulin were you taking? I think that is so awesome that you were able to get off your meds!!! How many carbs do you have in your average meal?
