Has anyone looked into diabetic alert dogs? I'm curious because my family and i are looking into one and i wondered if anyone else had.

I have one.He is a Boxer, and was not formally trained, but has always known when my sugar is getting too low. He comes an lays his big old head in my lap and softly moans till I check it and do something. If I don't respond quick enough, he nudges and starts barking at me. Good luck.

I have a boxer pit mix that was never trained either…she is a little more agressive when my sugars drop…if I don't immediately do something she goes to my husband and swats him with her paw. It's really comforting to know I can go to sleep and she will wake me if I get low…

How great. There is just something special about Boxers. Even if they are not full blood, they are so sensitive to the people they love.

My "accidental" alert dog is a young German Shepard. I had no idea, until he was consistent for several months.
