has anyone made or eaten sushi with brown rice and/or using splenda to make the sticky rice? i love to eat sushi, but the white rice + sweetening it with sugar makes for higher blood sugar levels.

any tips or wisdom for a fairly newly diagnosed type 2 that could eat sushi several times a week but can't??

Not sure what kind of sushi it is but my favorite is the kind with the little mound of rice and the fish on top of it. Love the salmon and tuna those are my absolute favorites. When I eat it I usually just eat the fish part and leave most of the rice mound. If I'm doing sushi I usually have a plate full of raw veggies too like sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and what ever else I can find on the salad bar at my local Chinese place. Oh, and TONS of wasabi! I love that stuff. It makes me cry every time I eat it but it's kinda like John Mellancamp said …It hurts soooo good…lol

=) thanks! the roll with the fish on top and it's oval shaped is nigiri - just discovered that the other night. =) the veggies is a good idea - and some broth soup will help fill me up as well. and i am going to try some at home w/ brown rice & splenda to make sticky rice. we will see! hey… i'll just eat the sushi and go swim laps when i'm done!
