In a new article I just read in a pharmacy journal they now have confirmed that lower levels of Vitamin D are associated with a higher risk of developing diabetes and diabetic retinopathy. The mechanism by which vit D may affetc progression, beta cell function, dysglycemia and retinopathy are not clear. They say the next step should be vit D supplementation trials. If anyone is interested in reading the entire article it can be found in "".

In March, my endocrinologist discovered I had a Vitamin D deficiency. I now take 3000iu of Vitamin D as a supplement. My opthamologist advised that I have the beginnings of diabetic retinopathy but nothing that requires immediate attention. Hopefully, the D supplement will help! Your post is certainly encouraging!

Tried to find the particular article in Formulary Journal but was unable, sue. Could you find the article and provide the link to it?

BTW I find FJ fascinating. Could get lost in that site just reading up on stuff in which I'm interested.
