Yep…we all need to read the labels, religiously! Many of the diet versions of foods have higher carbs like MrsCDogg said below. I always opt for the lower-carb version.

We also have to watch out for the fat free stuff. When they take the fat out they have to replace it with something that tastes good. Lets face it, fat makes stuff taste really good. Usually that something is sugar. You have to watch that particularly in salad dressings. I'd rather just have a little real stuff and forget about the fat free stuff. The real stuff tastes better anyway. Besides who ever heard tell of fat free heavy cream?? Or fat free half and half?

We all have to be aware of what we put in our mouths, and we need to be cautious about the "advertised" benefits of a food and the real qualities of that food. I try not to go in for too many "sugar free" foods due to the amounts of sugar alcohol found in most of them. I prefer limiting real foods that are high carb rather than eating foods full of chemicals.

Your right, I noticed that some sugar free jello has carbs and some dont so I have to look at everything before I buy it.
