they say now if you drink diet soda that it is just as bad for you as regular soda, so i quit drinking diet and changed over to drinking ice tea…sweetened with spenda. is there anything wrong with tea sweetened w/ splenda??? as a diabetic i feel like everything is wrong for you, so why dont they just put us out to pasture?

i have just discovered the lipton iced tea bags that brew in cold water and i use sucralose to sweeten…no change in my glucose readings at all because of this i have given up diet soda ! i do also use crystal light and store brands sweetened with sucralose {splenda}

I used to love Dr Peppers but after I was diagnosed, did away with soft drinks and now drink Unsweet Tea and lots of ice cold water…

I'm not a big fan of soda. Especially cola. Even as a child when Mom would go to the store and ask if I wanted a pop I'd say …Yea mommy, but nothing brown! lol

I try not to drink or eat anything with aspertame in it . I drink iced tea with splenda and by-pass the soda. Every once in a while I will have a coke. Yes I kinow, it's loaded with sugar but I do not drink it very often and then just a small glass to wet my whistle. Since I've been trying to lose weight for a few years now I sort of get turned off when I'm told "you can't have". My husband does this to me and one of my daughter-in-laws told him he had to stop. I know he means well but I do get turned off and the3n do njust nthe opposite. Anyway, I think a diet is what will work best for you and portion control and moderation are the key.

IF you are going to drink Tea with Splenada…Diet Rite makes several flavors Tangerine, cola etc. NO calories, NO Sodium, NO aspartame and NO Caffeine. They use sucralose/Splenda to sweeten. I find them tasty. Also Some store brands use splenda as well. Have a good week :-)

I have changed to tea, but still have cravings for the sweet stuff every now and then. Soooo, I have sugar-free Hawaiian Punch or one of the many flavors of Crystal Lite. Neither one seems to affect my BG to much at all and they satisfy my sweet tooth.

I like Crystal Lite also. Here in my house we drink either Fruit 2O or decaf iced tea with Splenda, I prefer good old icewater myself. If I'm really thirsty that's what I crave. I've never been a huge fan of soda of any kind and especially not the kind with sugar. Just never liked the taste.

Nothing wrong with it as long as there aren't a lot of carbs in Splenda. I've seen discussions by other members that some artificial sweeteners have a laxative effect. That may be a problem if it causes you to be dehydrated.
