Humalog insulin sliding scale for meals and Lantus insulin 50 units at night. Was on Metformin while in hosp. but not anymore. Dr.'s talking about lowering Lantus to 40 units .

I take 500mg of metformin once a day, but I was only diagnosed a month ago with type 2. Good luck.

I've been type 2 for the past 16 years, and since being diagnosed I've been on 2000 mgs of Metformin, and just recently the doc put me on 10mgs of Glipizide.

I am type 2 for 15 years. I have taken several different meds over the years.
Right now I take 1 Januvia 100 mg and 60 units of Lantus.

I control mine with what I eat, a low carb, high protein meal plan. I used to take Metformin, and then took insulin for several years.

But it doesn't really matter what WE all do. It is a matter of working with your diabetes care team to find out what works for YOU! Because each different Person with Diabetes (PWD) is different, and different approaches work for each individual PWD.

I pray you find that approach which works best for YOU!

Good morning young man. Its good to see you're getting right down to business! My Rx is for: Metformin, 850mg 3 times a day, with food. I've recently decided to periodically replace one of the Metformin tablets with 2 tblsp of pickle juice, to see how well it works. I'm doing this because I want to go lower on my meds and I heard that vinegar helps to lower BG. I usually try it with the mid-day dose. After two hours, I check my BG to see if I need to go ahead and take the pill. I don't recommend that YOU experiment, though.
I've discussed this with my Dr. ;-) Mara
