I read a news article today that said that said that that while there is evidence of benefit to non-diabetics with no history of heart disease or stroke, people with diabetes should not take aspirin to prevent heart disease and stroke unless they already have a history of these complaints. My doctor has me taking one Aspirin a day. Now I am worried that this is not doing any good for me. Have any of you heard anything about this? I posted the article in case you might be interested.

I've had several different doctors in the past 20 yrs. or so (because of moving) and each one continues the 81 mg per day. I've never heard or read that diabetics should not be on an aspirin regiment. Interesting.

I take an 81 mg baby aspirin everyday and it helps me to keep my blood thin so that my heart don't have to pump so hard. I have type 2 diabetes and have been taking the baby aspirin ever since I was diagnosed 7 years ago.

A ASPIRIN A DAY WILL HELP KEEP YOUR BLOOD FLOWING TO THE LEGS. IT HELPS TO KEEP THE BLOOD THINNER SO IT WILL FLOW, ALSO IT WILL HELP KEEP LEGS AN FEET AT A NORMAL SIZE, OR REDUCE THE SWELLING. MY DOC SAYS IF I CHECK MY BLOOD AN IT DOESNT WANT TO CLOT, THEN I AM TAKING TOO MUCH ASPIRIN, BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM. IT ALSO HELPS KEEP THE LITTLE PAINS AWAY. I TAKE 325MG A DAY PLUS MORE WHEN I GET A HEADACK FROM READING TO MUCH EMAIL.. THE DOCS SAY THAT YOU CAN TAKE UP TO 12 A DAY IF YOU HAVE A AUTHERITC CONDITION, TO RELEIVE PAIN IN THE JOINTS… BY THE WAY THE OLDER YOU GET THE MORE IT TAKES TO WORK..

I was told by my transplant MD I should be taking a baby Asprin (81mg) daily. I question him because I was taking a blood thinner and he said it wouln't hurt. So i have been doing this for at least 5 years now. I haven't seen any problems yet…Debe

My dr. has had me on low dose aspirin because I am a diabetic. I see him next week and will ask him about this.

I have not heard that. My mom is on a daily dose too, and she is type 2. I will have to check into this.
