My 8 year old son was just diagnosed with T1 a week ago. I am still very confused on some of this. If he eats a fruit or has juice with his meal should I count it in his humalog that he gets with meals?

Wondering why you would think you wouldn't count the carbs from fruit or juice? If you give insulin based on the carbs in a meal, then you count them all - the ones from pasta, and the ones from milk, or fruit, etc. Did your doctor tell you that you can deduct the amount of fiber at any point? If his blood glucose level before the meal was low, then giving juice to raise it to normal - those carbs would NOT be counted for insulin.
