My husband and I have been living in the same little house since 2007. When we moved here I was working at a job where I made a lot more money. He works for the state of WV so he doesn't make a huge amount. Back in 2007 my health was also better. We haven't been able to afford to live here in quite a while. The landlord hasn't said anything about us not being able to pay the rent for quite a while. So, day before yesterday I get an e mail from him telling me how far we are behind, and that basically we need to pay that amount, pay the rent at the end of the month or get out. So we are looking for a new place to live. I'm not whining. I'm just sharing what's going on in my life with my friends. We are looking at rent to own places. It seems like that will be a lot easier for us to get into than another rental. We really need your prayers right now. Thanks.

It is looking more and more like we will be able to get into a house that is what they call "owner financed". That is someone buys the house and finances it back to us and we make the payments to them. The payments will be so much less expensive than the astronomical rent we had to pay here. No credit checks, and no dealing with banks. So, we have the ball rolling in the right direction now! Thanks for all the prayers and kind words from everyone. It helps so much!

Sorry to hear about your situation, I grew up in WV and I know how hard jobs are to find there or anywhere right now. I am on an email list from HUD Forclosures that have homes all over the U.S. Haven't paid much attention to it but you might check it out at or try west virginia housing. Most counties and states have housing authorities. Best of luck.

I agree with nanaellen - a better home is in your future. Trust the Lord to work this out. I had a housing story - a few yrs ago, was trying to buy a house and it fell through. I lost a lot of money and it was really hard, as I am a single parent and at the time was the primary financial caregiver for my Mom. Well, I prayed about it, and found a nicer place, and recovered what I had lost by working very hard. Still a little unsteady financially, but now have my own home since 2009. Been living there almost 2 yrs, and with falling interest rates, it is a little easier. Will certainly keep you and MrD in my prayers.

I'm sorry your landlord is not more forgiving considering how things are these days. I don't know WHAT I would have done if MY landlord did that to us!!! When my husband got sick we literally had NO income except $30.00 a day I was making under the table and my landlord never once asked us for anything!! When our income straightened out he let us pay $100.00 a month on top of the rent to get caught up!! It took us 3 1/2 years to pay off what we owed!! In your case I'm hoping that God just has other plans for you!! You know what they say, everything happens for a reason!! Maybe you'll get a nicer house in the end!! Keep your chin up we'll all keep you in our thoughts and prayers!!! Your friend, Ellen :)

I am sad to hear that you are in this situation right now. As others have said, it is one that a lot of Americans are finding themselves right now. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. And I hope that you will keep us posted on your progress.
