I'm having a real hard time getting this A1C down to 6%. I don't think in the 7 years since I was diagnosed with type 2, I have ever had my A1C at 6%. It is always too high. Is there a way to get it down besides the meds I am being given?

Diet and exercise are essential in controlling diabetes. Even though I use insulin, I can't eat whatever I want and not exercise and get a good A1c. The same is true for oral meds. I found I needed to eliminate or greatly reduce my carbs and increase my exercise level…then I was able to get my A1c back into the 6's…6.6 in June, down from 7.1 in March. It takes work and will-power but it can be done!

I was just recently diagnosed with type 2 also and my Dr said getting it to come down depends a lot on diet and exercise.
