i was one of those lucky people who had perfect teeth…no cavities, didn't have to wear braces…my childhood dentist even wanted to take me to a dental convention to show off…seriously! It seemed like the minute I was diagnosed as a diabetic, though, my mouth became unhealthy. Still no cavities, but my gums are a mess. I developed ulcers on my gums which were very painful and my gums were red and swollen a lot of the time. If I even had my teeth cleaned, I suffered for days and couldn't eat because my gums reacted so violently. I had never heard that diabetes can wreck your oral health too! Do many of you have this problem too? My dentist recommended that I take a supplement called L-lysine, and it works! Check with your doctor or dentist, of course, but if you take one or two of these OTC, inexpensive tablets every day, it all but eliminates the problem. Hope this helps someone out there.
