Is there anyone in the community that is taking Byetta? If you do can you talk to me about it. I do not like the new meds I am on and the insurance won't cover Victoza. I would like to know about Byetta from someone taking it and not just what the pharmaceutical company has to say about it. THanks a bunch,

I took Byetta for a few months but I was having trouble remembering the second dose at dinner time because I wasn't home alot. Now I am taking Victoza. Tried it a couple of weeks ago but got really sick on it. The doctor suggested that I take it at night so I started it again on Tuesday night and so far it has been OK. I'm hoping that this helps with weight loss as I lost 30 lbs on the Byetta.

I have been taking Byetta for over a year and a half now. Fortunatley, I never experienced any nausea and have lost 30 pounds (all within the first 3 months). i love it, but my insurance company has restrictions on how long I can take it.

I think mostly the nausea is what helps with the weight loss. I had problems with the inital time (about 2 months). One month at 5 mcg and one month at 10 mcg. After that I learned to time the injection so I didn't feel so nauseated. I did lose about 30 pounds on it and it did help lower my BS numbers.

I took it for about 2 months and it did wonders for me until all of a sudden I had a reaction to it. My doctor thought it was odd that it took that long, but i lost some weight and my bvs went down, if i could take it again i would.

Thanks for telling me this. I am not on insulin. I am only on oral meds. I was given a sample of Victoza and was on it for about 3 weeks and did great on it. The insurance refuses to cover it so I am going to talk to my doctor on our next appoinment about Byetta as it is covered. Thanks for talking to me and I am glad you are taking less insulin. Hopefully some more people will talk to us about this.

I started on byetta about 6 1/2 weeks ago. The first month I was on the beginning dose if 5 2 times daily. There wasn't any real notable difference. The last 2 1/2 weeks things have been changing. I've had to slowly lower my levemir from 28units to now at 19units. In this time I've had some scary lows. It's getting better though.
I do wonder hue long others have been on byetta before they started losing weight.

I took Byetta for a year and lost about 30 pounds on it. I started getting sick and had to get off from it. I take Victoza and loving it. The Victoza does not help me with weight loss like Byetta.
