I was wondering if someone with type 2 can get type 1. I have type 2 and heard horror stories about type 1.
Can I get type1?

Yes you may well be able to get t1. If your pancreas is putting out some insulin, and then attacked by a virus, wiping out your beta cells, that is theoretically possible.

But if you have t2 it may be difficult to tell, especially if you are a t2 on insulin. You'd probably have increase your insulin dose.

Your Dr can perform some specialized blood tests to see which you are. You don't become a t1 JUST because Dr switches you from pills to insulin (a common misconception) I am a t2 and was on insulin for many years. I was able to control my t2 by following a specific eating plan (low carb/high protein) because my pancreas is putting out enough insulin to cover what I am eating. If I was t1, there is no way I could do that.
