Hi everyone, I was just diagnosed as a type1 and I am losing weight. I'm scared about this and does anyone have any ideas what is wrong.

One of the reasons diabetics tend to loose weight without trying is that none of your food energy is getting into your cells, it's staying in your blood stream and so your body starts to burn your reserves. It is a tell tale symptom of diabetes. Once you are in a treatment plan where you are getting the insulin to work for you, it should stop or at least slow down.

Please let your doctor know what is going on. Call him before your next appointment if you need to. You don't want to let that go on, as it is an indicator of high glucose levels.

I am sorry to hear of your Dx, Peggy, but I must agree with Mays. You need to talk to your diabetes care team soon.

It's best to discuss this with your diabetes care team.
Diabetes is a "Individuals Disesase" and your care should be orchestrated by your doctors.
