I have had leg cramps that turned out to be blood clots. I urge everyone who has leg cramps to go to your doctor and get checked out. For me that meant I was sent for a dopler test. The dopler is pain free and will tell your doctor if you have a serious problem. I was hospitalized and had to go on a blood thinner for a year.
Has anyone else had leg cramps that ended up to be a sign that they had Blood Clots?

After, I had knee surgery, my leg started to hurt different from the knee, found out I had another blood clot. I had had a clot about 10 years ago and was on blood thinners for a year. Then 4 years ago I had surgery and have been on thinners ever since and will be on them for life.

I did not know you could be on blood thinners for your whole life. I thought once the clot was disolved than you did not need them anymore. Sorry you have to be on them such along time.

After my Dad devolped a 2nd blod clot he was on blood thinners for the rest of his life. Same with my sister's Father-in-law. When I was talking with my Vascular surgeon about my risk of blood clots he explained if you get one you are on the thinners for a short while. If you form a 2nd one the thinners are for life. The risk of forming more clots is just too high.
