Hello and Welcome! My preference is to test my BS before I eat, then I will test it 2 hours after I eat. This tells me whether or not I am eating right. Before this site, there was a lot of trial and error. The above method was how I found out about corn, peas, carrots, & potatoes. Jim

Hello, and welcome to the site. Typically when you are first starting to test, the doctors and CDEs will tell you to test 2 hours after your first bite of a meal. Later, maybe 2-3 months, after your numbers are usually in your target ranges, you may want to test 1 to 1-1/2 hours after, or even test in 30-minute intervals occasionally on foods you are concerned about to see how high your numbers go before dropping. Good luck.
