I am still new to it, only been on it for about 4 or 5 months. I have had a handful of low bloodsugars (lower than 60) and while that stinks, its teh first time I have had lower end of normal at all!! I used to average 200, and had days when my meter wouldn't read at all but to say HI and it went to 500. I was pushing hundreds of units of standard insulin like levamir and novolog (allergic to Lantus), with little result.

So I wondered:

Who else uses it, in a pump or via syringe?

What have your sugars done with it- dropped significantly or do you still struggle?

Have you noticed anything that makes the U500 more effective- cardio workouts versus say recumbant biking, or eating certain foods, etc. that drop your susgars faster?

I was reading one article that refered to the duration of insulin life, and it said that standard insulins are 7 or so hours till they are out of juice, and U500 is 24 hours, but that the standard insulin shows most effect within 3-4 hours.. it didn't mention a U500 reference time- what do you find with it? How fast does U500 start to effect? What kind of a drop do you get per mL?
