Is anyone else on here allergic to the sun, heat and cold?

I am so totally bummed out about this. As if it is not hard enough trying to get my sugar under control. I had my three grandkids that live close by, over yesterday. We played outside, well they did, as I sat in the shade most of the time.
We did a very little work so I could set my sprinkler up for them with a little pool I bought for them. Should have been great fun for all of us. The problem was I have the allergies to Heat, Sun, and cold. I got so sick from it. I drank lots of unsweetened Iced tea. My sugar kept getting higher and higher, dispite giving my self my sliding shots. At one point it reached 410. I finished cooking on the grill and had the kids come in with me. I took another shot and ate a little dinner. It finally started coming down as my body started cooling down some. I made the kids and Don snowcones and I had one with no syrup (I Love just Ice) lol. I called my son-in-law and told him I was taking the kids home (I was Babysitting so I had a little birthday Party for my granddaughter. No parents invited.)lol. He asked me if I had a house key. DUH! They never lock the house so they never gave me a key. They were an hour away. I let him know I was not really feeling to well. He said we will leave now Ma. My Daughter called a little while away and could I take the kids home and they would be there in 1/2 hour. I told her ok.
Now I had to set back and use a nitro. It helped, but when I got the kids there (The big ones pulled in just befor we did), I had to set back and use another nitro.
That one did the trick. I sat there and talked (listened) to my daughter. I did let them know how very close I came to having to go to the hospital.
Man I hate this. It is worse than just trying to deal with the diabeties.
By the way I have tried everything from a long sleeved shirt (makes it worse because of the heat thing) to SPF 70 sunscreen. I still get the gosh awful red blotches and sick feeling. It even gets me in the car. I have to have AC and make sure it doesn't get to cool or blowing directly on me.

I have troubles with the heat too.. I never did until I became diabetic. I never really burned before either- now I look outside and my face burns. I used to spend hours outside, hot or cold, and now, half an hour and I feel it big time and my sugar drops to 60. My sugar always tanks when I am in the heat, and I get weak very quickly (and then my BP goes through the roof.. last low BS I had it was 190/130, and I freaked out) Sound like you were a lot more calm than I would have been!

Well Navy, I guess that comes from spending so many years taking care of other people. The last one I took care of was my Mom, a very brittle diabetic.

In a sorry way, I am glad someone else has trouble with the heat. My issue is, if I am doing any physical work, my sugar levels drop fast and deep in the heat. Laying around they go up. This is so much fun, I can hardly stand it! Next thing you know the post will say, "WARNING! Diabetics who wear sunscreen in the sun have an increased chance and skin cancer and brain tumors"

OK Jim since you asked for it: "WARNING! Diabetics who wear sunscreen in the sun have an increased chance of skin cancer and brain tumors" LoL!

I am sorry to hear that Jim. It sucks, LOL Just one more "Darned if ya do and Darned if you don't." If I sit around my sugar goes up. If i get up and do much my sugar goes up due to getting over heated.

Wow that sounds nasty Vickie! I don't have that particular problem, in fact these summer temperatures are just starting to get comfortable for me in the 90's to 100s

Perhaps next time for a party you might want to have a parent or other adult there as a backup. I shudder to think what might have happened if you had collapsed.
Praise God you didn't!

Hello James, How have you been doing? I know I surley did thank God. I am thanking him again right now. We had storms today and a power outage. It was out for about 9 hours. I thank God for the cooler and less humid temperatures today.
It could have made things so bad, but God is good.
